‘SAVE Britain’s Heritage’ add their support to SOS

We were delighted to welcome Rhiannon Wicks, deputy director of SAVE Britains’ Heritage in London, who battled through floods and collapsed tunnels last Weds, to come and take a look at Knowle. Thanks to Councillors Sheila Kerridge and Peter Sullivan who happened to be at EDDC HQ, we were given access to the building and Rhiannon was suitably impressed.  SAVE’s letter of objection to the Revised Application has been added to DOCUMENTS on this website.  And look out for Knowle on http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/index.php  very soon.

EDDC Planning Officers approve EDDC Outline Plans for Knowle

EDDC have now recommended that Councillors should approve the EDDC Outline Planning Application for the development of the Knowle.  See www.eastdevon.gov.uk
Save our Sidmouth will do everything that we can to ensure that the Development Management Committee (DMC) rejects the advice from their Planning Officers. (Public can attend the meeting at Knowle, now postponed until Tuesday Dec 8th at 2p.m. to hear how the decision is made).  We believe the advice is flawed, and SOS will be responding to EDDC Planning in that respect.
In the event of the DMC approving the OPA, we will continue to press for a call in by the Secretary of State (After many letters from constituents, Hugo Swire, MP, has recommended this action to Eric Pickles).
Meanwhile, members of the public might also like to attend the EDDC Full Council meeting on the 5th December at 6.30p.m . Councillors Stuart Hughes and Graham Troman will be asking for a decision on Knowle to be delayed. They will cite Michael Heseltine’s report on Local Government reorganisation.See EDDC could disappear http://sidmouthindependentnews.wordpress.com (Nov 1st )
