Save Our Sidmouth

Effect on East Devon of imminent changes to National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

The  27th March, 2013, could go down in history as Black Wednesday, marking the start of rampant despoliation of the English countryside.

Consequences are likely to be particularly serious in Devon, for reasons set out in a letter sent last week by Michael Temple on behalf of the newly-formed East Devon Alliance.

His letter to the Parliamentary Under Secretary for Planning  can be viewed at this link   Letter to Nick Boles

EDA’s own website will be available shortly.

East Devon Alliance is just what it says

The emergence of this new  non-party-political pressure group is a sign of the unrest throughout the District.

Thanks go to Mike Temple and Kelvin Dent of the Knowle Residents’ Association, for their independent initiative in convening the meeting which resulted in the formation of the East Devon Alliance.

Many sympathetic Save Our Sidmouth supporters participated in this meeting, held in Sidmouth on 16th February, although the majority of those present had travelled from other towns and villages in the area.  SOS Chair, Richard Thurlow, emphasises that the EDA is not an offshoot of Save our Sidmouth, but  ” an organisation which brings all concerned residents of East Devon  together, to fight for the common good”.

Express and Echo report on East Devon Alliance

There is an excellent report in the Express and Echo “Exmouth and East Devon” section today (page 56) of the East Devon Alliance meeting on Saturday 16th February.

Towards the end of the article, Cll Paul Diviani, Leader of EDDC, is quoted as saying: “We are open to constructive well-informed discussion and debate on things that are important to local people.”

Cllr Diviani may like to note what provoked the idea, now realised, of an East Devon Alliance .
