‘I have been notified today by Devon County Council, who are the Registration Authority, that the application by the Knowle Residents Association to register land at the Knowle as a Town or Village Green will be advertised in the Sidmouth Herald this Friday, 14th December. Anyone who wishes to object to the application must do so by 1st February 2013.
There is no need for anyone who supports the application to make representations at this stage. However, anyone who has used the land for lawful sports and pastimes for at least 20 years is welcome to contact me (tel 514291) if they wish to complete an evidence form and have not already done so.’

I asked my sister who is high up in local government elsewhere about the land at the Knowle being classed as “Village green” but she told me that as there were railings around it, village green status would not apply. Do you know how long those railings have been there?
