At yesterday’s meeting, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee decided to set up a Task and Finish Forum (TAFF) to investigate the relationship between the East Devon Business Forum and EDDC. For comment on the meeting, and for an explanation of what exactly a TAFF is, go to the Sidmouth Independent News blog (SIN) at http://sidmouthindependentnews.wordpress.com
It’s easy to blog your own view there, too!

BBC Radio Devon’s breakfast news programme yesterday led with the controversy over alleged conflict of interests for Councillor Members of the East Devon Business Forum. Questions were asked about how several planning approvals contrary to planning policy came to be passed.

Cllr Godbeer said at the Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting that our paper on the EDBF erroneously stated he had a business interest in Coombefield Vets. Therefore you couldn’t believe anything else in it . I have just emailed Cllr Godbeer:
Dear Councillor Godbeer,
I was sorry you felt it was unfair to mention that you had a business interest in our paper on the EDBF. Your current list of interests clearly shows Coombefield Veterinary Hospital.
If you think there are any other factual errors in our report please let me know.
Cllr Godbeer signed the list in July 2012.
