‘EDDC reacts to footpaths appeal outcome’

A press release on this subject is now available on the East Devon District Council website. In it, Press Officer Nick Stephen mentions a possible future appeal by EDDC. It states, ‘Devon County Council is now obliged to make an Order seeking to confirm the two routes, one of which follows the line of the main driveway from Station Road to the office buildings and the other via the rear service entrance from Knowle Drive.

If it chooses to do so, EDDC as landowner has the right to object to this Order and so force a further appeal to consider the matter.’

Taxpayers may well ask if this eventuality has been factored in to the office relocation budget. If so, what would be the cost?

Knowle parkland’s new tree celebrates the birth of royal baby

As reported in the Sidmouth Herald (15th November), a Lime tree to mark the arrival of the Queen’s great-grandson, Prince George, has been planted at the Knowle. The planting of the tree (donated by Sidmouth Garden Centre) was supervised by Diana East, who is Chair of the Sidmouth Arboretum. Local Town Councillors and Members of Knowle Residents’ Association were on hand,to show their appreciation of this example of care and protection of the parks and gardens.

Diana is already busy in her new additional role as Sidmouth Town Council’s first Tree Warden. The message below from Jeremy Woodward (of Vision Group for Sidmouth) gives details, and some links which will be of interest to those interested in the future of the Sid Valley:

Many of you will already have received the latest from the Sidmouth Arboretum – particularly the ambitious project of putting together a Tree Survey in 2014. This will involve local schools – and will need adult supervision.
