Local Plan must be resubmitted, EDDC has been advised.

The Inspector’s  comments will be of considerable interest to Sid Valley residents, as both Sidford and Knowle plans are singled out for criticism (although the planning process implications are of course  District wide) .

EDDC’s press release (19th August) Local Plan–key changes from minor to major can be seen at http://www.claire-wright.org.

Letter today from SOS Chair to EDDC Chief Executive

Dear Mr Williams,

I wrote to you just before the Local Plan was sent to the Inspector, asking that in the light of recent changes to the Plan wording, the approval of the Vet Centre in AONB as an alternative employment site and other issues, you omit the Sidmouth Section and re-consult.

You replied, refusing this request.

I attach the relevant correspondence* for  your easy reference

In the light of the Inspector’s decision to ask for re consultation because some changes were not minor, it may be advisable to take up the points I noted, since none of us wants further delay in the Local Plan process.

regards

Richard Thurlow

Chair SOS

Chair SVA Conservation and Planning Ctee.

Inspector rules that EDDC Local Plan must be resubmitted, after further public consultation

Richard Thurlow, Chair of Save Our Sidmouth, issued this statement to the press today:

EDDC’s Local Plan was sent to the Inspector at the beginning of this month. He has just informed EDDC that many of the changes made to the plan before submission, were not “minor” as EDDC asserted, but in fact were “major” and that the public should be reconsulted.

The Planning Application for the Knowle had to be re-issued four times.

EDDC has an extremely poor record of preparing documentation, at a large cost to the taxpayers of East Devon….We do hope that EDDC will be more circumspect in their Reports and documentation in the future
