From a local resident

The following message was sent in by a local resident  today (19/10/2012):

‘The copy of  Sidmouth Town Council’s planning agenda, which I received yesterday, did not list the demolition of the Drill Hall as an item for next week’s meeting. However, it is listed under planning proposals on page 49 of this week’s Sidmouth Herald. I believe that this is due to the application being raised after the STC agenda had been prepared. I expect this to be part of the agenda for the meeting in two week’s time.’

The proposal is to demolish the Drill Hall to form an open air storage compound for boats and vehicles.

The Sid Vale Association will discuss this at their next planning meeting, before making comment. The deadline is the end of November, or possibly later.

December 4th is the decision date on outline plans to build a 60-bed Care Home; luxury homes; and some affordable housing on the site.

If approved, the present car parking spaces, much of the parkland, the present Council buildings (old and newer) would disappear.
