Some alternative suggestions from the public:

1. Development as a winter garden, to boost year-round tourism. (Recent Task and Finish Forum (Sept 2012) recommended that Sidmouth town needs more winter trade.)  Atrium for the present historic building would take advantage of superb view across Knowle parkland to the sea, as public amenity.
2. A 3-school site for Sidmouth (with sale of present, dispersed, school premises for possibly housing, or office / small business use?)
3. Refit / update/ of the present newer council offices for the reduced staff numbers (which are envisaged) . Paid for by sale of the historic hotel for conversion to private flats. Retention of whole of Knowle parkland, including the civic arboretum, for public use as at present. Retention of present car parks for those visiting the town centre.
