Confession time for top Councillors, this Wednesday (10th Oct) at the Knowle

Weds 10th Oct: 6.30pm: The full Council of EDDC is to consider a couple of extraordinary items on its agenda:
On behalf of himself, the Leader of the Council and the Portfolio Holder – Economy, the Chairman to state their retrospective Personal Interests in the East Devon Business Forum motion (minute 28 of Council meeting of 25 July 2012) under the new Code of Conduct. (Although they were open at the meeting about their involvement with the Forum, they overlooked actually stating that it was a declarable interest. They wish to give their apologies for that oversight).
The Chairman to invite Councillor Mike Allen to address the meeting in respect of his incorrect comments about Councillor Claire Wright’s website design.

SOS MASS MARCH, Saturday November 3rd. Meet 11.a.m. Sidmouth Esplanade (eastern end).

Let’s show we’re not  ‘a vocal minority’ of grey panthers (see P. Diviani, yesterday’s Sidmouth Herald).

The Local Plan could ruin, not boost, the prosperity of East Devon.  Objections at Sidmouth are echoed by many from other towns and villages, whose natural assets, and economy, are similarly at risk.

SO COME AND JOIN THE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, FROM ALL PARTS OF THE SID VALLEY AND BEYOND, WHO WILL BE JOINING FORCES ON THE MASS MARCH.

Bring banners and SOS t-shirts, if you can…..and family, friends and neighbours!

And if you know Sidmouth, remember TIME IS TICKING AWAY for the KNOWLE: November 20th is the decision date on outline plans to build a 60-bed Care Home; luxury housing; and some affordable housing on the site.

If approved, the present car parking spaces, much of the parkland, and the present Council buildings (old and newer) would disappear.

Updates on the Mass March coming soon on http://sidmouthindependentnews.wordpress.com/
